Brenda Love (Gaffney)

Zora Smith Felton  (10 Apr 1951 - 16 Nov 2016)

She was born in Pitt County, North Carolina to the late Col. Leslie Davis Smith and Allie Whitehurst Smith. Her teaching career, while at Leesville High School and Sanderson High School in Raleigh, was where she became an advocate for both teachers and students. Her presence in the Wake County Public School System made a difference in the lives of many. She taught Social Studies for many years. In 2013, she proudly served on the Wake County School Board and was re-elected to serve again prior to her death. 

Zora is survived by her children: Allison Smith and her husband Jesse; Amanda Felton and her husband Jose and Adam Felton, sisters: Reba Burke and her husband David, Brenda Olsen and her husband Richard, grandchildren: Chase Smith, Peyton Smith and Manny Barahona. She was preceded in death by her brother, Leslie Smith, Jr. 

A Celebration of Life was held 22 Nov 2016 at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church and burial followed at Raleigh Memorial Park.
